With the invention of Mobile phones a lot of other tools have gone outdated, like the alarm clocks, cameras, video recorders, landline phones, calculators, torch lights, radios, paper maps, diaries, compass, magnifying glass and what not. Using them had their own charm and I would love to have these things in use in my day to day life. I am not much of a supporter of these hi-end technologies, especially the mobile phones. But to think on the broader level, I feel that with this one tool we are saving on so many other resources.
Yes, those industries have terribly suffered with the mobile phone getting smarter by the day and may be many other more will also suffer as improvisations in these gadgets keep happening. In the time when we really need to be mindful about our natural resources I feel that yes this 1 single device is taking care of so many functions, which is practical, and it is saving so much of our earth resources. Use of metals, plastic, paper, glass everything is getting reduced because of this one device. So it's not as bad as we think.
Of course we need to understand how to use it and keep the usage in control, if we do that then it's a very convenient and handy device. Especially while travelling it becomes easy to manage so many functions with this one device. The most favorite part of it for me is the Google map, that's a different thing that then you are being tracked also all the time, but now in the world we are living all of this is going to happen irrespective of mobile phone or not.
There are pros and cons of it, a lot of jobs have got cut down with this one innovation. Again one has to accept that these innovations and changes will keep happening and upgrading so while something goes outdated something new will come in it's place. There will be another kind of jobs generated.
It's a very debatable topic, personally I feel that we are taking care of some of the burning issues of our planet with this, which is cutting down our natural resource usage and if we do not keep our mobile phone usage in control then in return we are paying the price by giving up our quality time and health to this device. If used in the right manner, then it definitely is a good one.
