Isn't it a lovely feeling to be forgiven? When a couple gets into a fight over something trivial and the spouse who initiated it can admit that they were wrong. "I apologize so much"—isn't there a very lovely sensation in the heart? Don't parents' words of forgiveness feel wonderful when their kids finally own up to their misbehavior? Isn't it great when friends get back together after a fight and declare, "Everything is forgotten"?
The best present we can get is forgiveness. Jesus came among us in the form of a man, went through suffering, and died on the cross in order to grant us the gift of peace with our Father and with our brethren. His only goal was to mend the damage that Adam's transgression had caused. Jesus wants to bring everyone of us into perfect connection with our Father and with one another. He desires for each and every one of us to experience the wonderful feeling of forgiveness—not just once, but forever.
When a connection is restored, not only does the one giving forgiveness feel happy, but so does the one receiving it.
The Bible shows us God's delight in forgiving people. Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection secured our salvation; his wonderful gift of a fresh start in him; and his merciful outpouring of grace onto us upon our repentance are all reasons to celebrate him every day. What could possible prevent us from making peace with God every single day when all of those blessings are just waiting for us? When our "sin is forgiven" and our "blame is taken off," we experience a sense of relief and gladness that we would never want to deny.
