Not only are the flowers of Magnolia trees beautiful but thy are also edible and highly medicinal.

They are often used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the flowers are known as Xin yi hua and are associated with the lung and stomach meridians.

One of its most known uses is to help with anxiety.

There is also significant research that suggests magnolol, a compound in magnolia can help treat cancers, such as colon cancer and liver cancer due to the compound magnolol that can help prevent the spread of certain cancer cells.

“Magnolia oil can help treat Alzheimer’s disease. The magnolol component helps with the cognitive ability by stimulating the acetylcholine level in the brain.

Besides, the oil contains another component named Honokiol. It helps in improving brain activity, especially memory.”

These petals have been dried to make a tea. It’s actually very strong. I was surprised by how strong the taste was with almost citrus undernotes. I really enjoyed the taste but I think it is perhaps somwhat aquired :)
