Healthy plant based donuts

in food •  2 years ago

I haven’t really eaten any significant quantity of processed sugar, wheat, dairy, any processed foods for around 20 years now, and it’s served me well. Most of us get into extreme health because we are not that healthy and despite eating a relatively healthy by normal people standards diet when I was younger, I had terrible stomach problems and diagnosed with what they were sure was autoimmune disease, rheynauds and my notes also used to say rheumatoid although that was never discussed. Doctors are pretty hopeless when it comes to diet and lifestyle and some of the diet advice I got given to help with my stomach issues was to maybe try eating white bread and pasta because it had less fibre. A chemist set me on the right path with probiotics and after such terrible dietary advice from the doctor, it really kicked me up the arse to go and do my own research. I’ve always believed we can fix things and I would say it was almost programmed into me from somewhere because as soon as I was told the words lupus, I went home and immediately thought how can I fix this. It never dawned on me to think. Oh I should take the steroids or oh this is out of control or oh I’m just gonna be a victim I just immediately thought, okay let me go and see what I can do about it. it kind of coincided with a spiritual awakening and I very quickly found out about raw veganism and it truly switched my whole life around. My symptoms have got better and better over time and my health is improved rather than declined by taking it into my own hands. I noticed recently there’s a ton of information that suggests that leaky gut is a link with autoimmunity, but 15 years ago this wasn’t really such a common Association and took a lot of blind faith and trial and error on my behalf. But anyway I think part of the reason I’ve been so successful with living so healthy over the years is because I don’t think about it in what I have to give up some people say it’s me.. “Wow do you not miss sugar ?do you not miss chocolate/ cake?”

The honest answer is NO lol and rather than think about it what I can’t have I’ve always just focused how certain foods make me feel so good and I want more of them or get excited about healthy versions of food. I’ve always looked at it as things I’m adding to my life rather than what I’m losing or missing. After a few years I guarantee the taste of chocolate, sugar or processed food will taste gross anyways!

I love experimenting with healthy cakes in particular and total I made these Healthy donuts made with sweet potato, banana dates and oats with a blueberry, lemon, soaked cashew,
coconut milk, maple syrup and tiny bit of coconut oil topping

The great thing is you can eat like five and they are great for you :)

If you could include a step by step guide in creating this along with nutritional facts like you would find in any traditional cook book, I'll add it to my BRB post under desserts.

Looking for cooking that is out of the ordinary, and exclusively from the blurt community. It's to be an ever growing project. So I am keeping an eye out on new interesting plates. I have a few friends who studied to be chef and sometimes I ask them to make me something special from time to time. Paid of course.

It's your choice. The BRB post will be there forever. Feel free to make a post and send that link over to the BRB publication. Try to be as specific as possible. Some people may have allergies and I would like to have it listed for that purpose. So for example, one says sugar but what kind of sugar? Etc. You get my gesture im sure.

I didn’t do that on this occasion cause I mostly copied the recipe and then just adapted it a bit. It was by

I’m a crazy loose cook haha even if I watch recipes I guesstimate everything and add extra bits

Can you drop the recipe? I love creating/trying this kind of thing
