October's homeless meal is tomorrow afternoon. We are short handed, and two cooks are out for health reasons.
But we proceed anyway. The food costs to feed a hundred people have almost doubled in the last two months! Fortunately, I bought ahead, so we can still make the food.
I will be delivering the first batch, we are short a driver:
So I will make several runs with food, to deliver the food to the isolated camps.
I'll be making chicken Alfredo by request:
They love this Alfredo, so I am have to make it often! This never has left overs, but I'll make two roaster loads. I'll begin pressure cooking chicken in the morning, we will shred ten pounds for this batch! We will cook a 32 quart kettle of egg noodles for the base, and add about 6 quarts of Alfredo sauce with the chicken.
We'll be cooking 5 gallons of green bean casserole too, again by request.
A lot oaded table:
There will be chili, and beef stew; and the Ladies always bring home made desserts.
We will keep doing this as long as GOD wants us to, in spite of the food prices!
But next month, we serve turkey and dressing!
We will need about 10 turkeys, with all the fixings. I'll need to make about 15 gallons of turkey gravy to heat these sliced turkeys in! It will take about a week to get those turkeys cooked, but it's worth it to see the look on their faces. One Man cried and told me he hadn't eaten Thanksgiving dinner in 20 years! So I sent another plate with him....
This will be a full day, but it is satisfying to be allowed to be GOD's hands for a day!
Please pray for our success!
Awesome to see these meals for the homeless still happening from the volunteers 👍
It's starting to be harder to do! Food prices are high, we just have to keep on trying!
Be blessed!
