An excellent culinary impression

Hello, friends. Today I want to share with you my recent experience in my favorite city, Trinidad de Cuba. During a whole weekend in December every year the cachancharazo is celebrated, a local festivity that is intended to promote art, tradition and Trinidad as a World Heritage City.

For those who don't know, the canchanchara is a typical Cuban drink that originated during the war of independence against Spain, and Trinidad has adopted it as a local tradition. Among its ingredients are rum, honey and lemon. During the cachancharazo, they give away thousands of these drinks, which creates a festive and lively atmosphere throughout the city.

During these days, several tents are set up in some of the streets and they offer a variety of services, mostly gastronomic. Together with two friends, we chose a place that promised us a unique culinary experience, and of course, it was the cheapest.

The menu was more extensive than I would have imagined in any conventional restaurant around here. From different varieties of fish, chicken, pork and beef, to an amazing selection of tacos. I decided on a fish filet grille, while my friends opted for a chicken breast Milanese and a pork steak grille. Everything looked incredibly appetizing, and it was.

Each dish was accompanied by a mixed salad with tomato, lettuce and cabbage; plantain ladybugs; some pumpkins in sauce that were very delicious and a piece of boiled yucca. For a fresh and exotic touch, each dish came with a slice of carambola and a piece of lemon.

The experience was more than positive, besides the affordability of the prices, it was very well prepared and we felt very comfortable. In a pleasant way, this improvised place left us impressed.

My experience during the cachancharazo in Trinidad de Cuba was magnificent. The mix of tradition, flavor and the warm hospitality of the place made this weekend unforgettable. Without a doubt, I will be back.
