Trying Rajasthani Sweet Ghevar

in food •  2 years ago

The last post I wrote was about Baklava that I bought from the new sweet shop. I also bought a piece of Ghevar.

Ghevar is a Rajashthani sweet and it is very popular in Gujarat, Rajasthan and other states.

I had never had this sweet. There are a few Rajasthani Sweet shops in the city and I don't know why the never sold this one.

One reason might be that it cannot be stored for more than a day or so.

I have seen videos where people make these sweets and it is not easy. It needs an expert to make this and it can easily get burnt.

It is first fired in oil, dipped in a sweet syrup and then Ghee or clarified butter is poured in it.

It is a bit heavy and you can't eat more than a few spoonfuls.

I can't eat a lot of sweet stuff so I just ate a few spoonfuls. The milky top layer is cream and sprinkled with dry fruits like pistachio, almonds etc.
