Look At My Majestic Dumplings!

in food •  3 years ago

I made dumplings for Chinese New Year, and yes, I am aware that I am posting about like 2 days later. But I still wanted to show you what I created.

Last year's dumplings were a bit of a disaster; they came out all gooey and fell apart. This year, I was determined to make the perfect dumplings I possibly could.

I bought the wrappers pre-made because from my experience I don't have the skills or the patience to make my own. To be honest, my so called "dumplings" are more like gyozas. In Chinese they do have a word for "dumplings", which is dimsums, but that doesn't really matter right now.

In case anyone wants to try my recipe, here it is.

Ingredients:

Dumpling wrappers (2 packets) (Mine came in packs of 20)
2 packets of minced pork
Ground ginger (can also use fresh)
Spring onions
Coriander leaves
Salt
Pepper
Lurv

This makes around 40 dumplings.

Just take all the ingredients and mash them together in a bowl. Then, depending on the size of your wrappers, take a small amount of the goo and roll it into a small meat-ball. Then make sure it is not too big (and not too small) by folding the wrapper around it. To seal it, just wet the sides and fold the wrapper (with the meat-ball still inside) and pinch along the sides.

An alternative method is to fold the wrappers along four sides, like making a knapsack. I tried both - they both worked. And this time, they didn't turn into a "field of goo", as my Father complained!

Happy dumplings!

Actually... happy eater!
