A visit to Modara Fishing Harbour - Moratuwa

It was a sunny day and I wanted to buy some fresh fish for the upcoming week. In Colombo there are a number of Super markets to purchase fish but fresh fish from the morning boats are rare to find. So I normally go to Modara beach to buy fish I need. There are two advantages, first thing is I can by fresh new fish from there and the prices are also lot more cheaper than the super markets. There are a number of varieties of fish .. we are free to check them before purchase and they cut them in front of us.

Here the fish harvest is from the small-scale day boats. That's the reason for the freshness of the fish. Normally in large-scale boats , the harvest is kept in freezers for a longer period.
