As a parent our main mission is to feed our children nutritious stuff and as they slowly wake to their power of choice the words "I don't like that anymore" come up quite a lot! So it was with great pleasure that I observed both of them chewing on dried figs yesterday, which personally I don't find all that amazing. But there we go. Everyone is different right!
Here they are as they went into the dehydrator last night. Along with a few varieties of tomatoes which will end up preserved in oil with herbs.
The machine was set for 14h at 65°C so it is still running now at 6am.
Some of the tomatoes are done and have been removed already. The trick is pulling the dry bits out as soon as they are done, otherwise they become too crispy.
That being said, if some bits are too dry, just seal them in a jar for a day with some wet bits and the moisture does seem to even itself out.
Keep storing that food for the winter everyone!
