An unusual resolution

Estelle stepped in, all black with devilish matte red lipstick. Her black shade perched rightly on the bridge of her nose as she looked around with her teeth digging right through her chewing gum. Dressed as though she was going for a talk show rather than just the convenience store.

She looked around the busy store before she took out the chewing gum in her mouth and dropped it in her bag before grabbing a mini martini bottle and gulping the whole bottle down right by the doorway.

"Whoa!!" she said out loud.

"You should move along or step aside, young lady," an old woman said, and as she swung her hair to turn her head around to look at the old woman, her hair flung and hit a man's face.

"Hey, watch it!!" the man said, pushing her forward and as she lunged onward, almost falling, she grabbed the man's wallet in his back pocket and within a swift second like an eagle perching its sharp claws into its prey, his wallet was pilfered.

"Sorry," she said to the man as she gained her balance back.

"You better be," the man said before walking away angrily.

"Why did you do that?" she suddenly heard the old woman ask.

Fear gripped her, fear of the old woman possibly seeing her grab the man's wallet.

"I...uhmm...I was just..."

"You should never just apologize without saying a word to defend yourself," the woman said before she scoffed and walked away. Estelle scoffed as well before rolling her eyes and going in for her mission.

“The jewelry section,” she said in a low tone to herself as she took bold steps towards the aisle.

As she approached, moving closer to her target neckpiece, her eyes glinted with much desire, making her stomach turn out of pure excitement. She grew oblivious to her surroundings, aiming only at the piece of jewelry and that alone.

Estelle was a few inches away from it when a lady with her stroller ran into her, causing her to fall over the entire aisle with the whole content falling over.

She wasn’t mad, she wasn't upset, neither did she yell at the lady who copiously pleaded, trying to help her to her feet. Instead, she saw it as a blessing in disguise, an easy route for her to grab her target.

“I’m so sorry,” the lady said.

“No, no!” Estelle quickly said as she stood to her feet, tucking her hands in her bag. “Thank you,” she smiled broadly.

The lady shot her a weird look as she moved ahead with her stroller but she glanced back towards Estelle who dusted her dress, adjusted her shade, and blew an air kiss.

“Such a weirdo,” she said to herself.

Estelle looked down as they cleaned up and arranged everything back in place. She pulled her dress down for the hundredth time before walking out of the store.

She let out a deep breath as she got in her car. She stared at her reflection in the rearview before taking her shades off. She smiled, internally patting her head for a job well done.

As she walked into the bar, sitting by the counter, the music buzzed right through her head and she loved every bit of it.

“Two shots of whatever heavy liquor you have,” she said to the bartender and he nodded.

She turned away from him as he mixed a lot of different drinks together. She rested her back against the counter as her eyes caught the most masculine-looking man she had ever seen.

He looked so tall, about 6’3 ft or thereabout. He wasn’t so muscular but the beaming light reflected on his well-sculpted face and now, the Zeus was walking towards her

Estelle sat upright in her seat and turned back to face the bartender.

“Here’s your drink,” he said and she smiled before downing it all.

“A shot of tequila,” his voice was so deep that the bass almost made her choke on her drink.

She looked over her shoulder to her side, strolling her eyes up and down his body, and her eyes suddenly settled on his side pocket with his phone hanging out of his pocket.

Estelle swallowed hard, stood up from her seat, and wobbled to the side, almost falling over to his side but he was quick to hold her. Just at that moment, she grabbed his phone.

“Thank you,” Estelle said with a broad, deep smile and he nodded.

As she was about to subtly drop the phone in her pocket, he held her hand back.

“I think that’s mine,” he said in a low voice that made her whole body tremble.

“You look too good to take what isn’t yours,”

The liquor was already kicking in but the effect of his words didn't fail to humiliate her. With that, she made the last resolution in her head, never to be caught again.
