The man took the last puff on his cigarette, then released the smoke into the night air, complicit in mostly unpunished crimes. Hank was a detective who took justice into his own hands without mercy.
Hank leaned back in his seat as the cigar in his mouth was consumed. At that instant there was a knock on the wooden door, the knocking awakened the man who reacted instinctively and from his mouth he blurted out a few words. "Come in, it's open."
The door opened slowly and a beautiful woman, with a sculpted body and crimson lips, caught the detective in a spell, seductive. "Good evening, my name is Larissa," she would say to him as she sat down and crossed her legs, very beautiful and shapely.
"Good evening, I'm Hank, how can I help you?" Hank was unperturbed by the woman's aggressive beauty.
"I've been told that you solve cases that the police can't and do justice where the police won't act."
"That's right, tell me, what is your case?" Hank finished taking the last puff on his cigarette and pressed the butt into the ashtray.
"My husband was murdered three months ago by his son who has inherited every fortune from his father. The police can do nothing since he had a perfect alibi, and the case remained unsolved. I know it was him, but I have no proof. I need you to avenge the death of my beloved husband." Tears were streaming down Larissa's beautiful blue eyes.
Hank asked for all the information from Larissa, who supplied him with many documents, photos, and addresses. After analyzing everything thoroughly and putting everything in context, he would look with a coarse countenance at the woman. "So you were the second wife of the deceased, I understand now."
"That's right, but I wasn't interested in my husband's money, I loved him." Larissa wiped a pink handkerchief across her crystalline eyes and smudged dark makeup on the soft fabric.
"Very well, I will do my best, Mrs. Larissa, I will be in touch with you." Hank stood up and asked Larissa to leave his office, the man followed behind and then watched as the sensual woman climbed into a Rolls Royce and disappeared into the horizon filled with dark shadows.
The next day, Hank arrived at the office where the son of the deceased worked, he waited for the night to fall and the shadows to accompany his mission. He saw his target ready to board his Mercedes Benz and like a leopard pounced on the heir, the man's eyes widened, and completely disoriented he asked the detective. "What's going on, why are you bringing me out here, and who the hell are you?"
"My name doesn't matter, I have come to you to find out the truth, if you cooperate you won't suffer much." Hank was telling him as he finished tying the man's hands and hung him over an electrified water tank. "Alright, Mr. Serman, you're going to tell me the whole truth or we're going to start having fun with the water tank. Haha."
"No, you can do that asshole, untie me immediately, don't you know who I am?"
"I know very well and that's why you're here Mr. Serman." Hank's leisurely, emotionless voice intimidated Serman.
The detective was beginning to lower Serman into the water tank, slowly loosening the rope that had him bound. Serman's feet would touch the electrified water and he would begin to scream desperately and shake violently. "Noooooo, that's enough!"
"Alright, Mr. Serman, we know my little experiment is working. Haha." Hank pulled out another cigarette and stuck it in his mouth, as he lifted Serman back up. "Alright, Mr. Serman, now I want to ask you, you murdered your father and I want a satisfactory answer."
"I don't know what you're talking about, please set me free and I'll give you whatever you want."
"Wrong, that's not the answer I'm looking for." Hank would lower the rope again and Serman would writhe in pain. "Let's try again and remember the more mistakes, the more pain." He would take a puff on his cigar and release the smoke to where Serman was standing. "Once again, you killed your father?"
"Asshole, I'm innocent, ask the police."
"Wrong!" Hank was lowering Serman into the pool of water again, and Serman was writhing in pain.
"Stop it, stop it, I'm innocent, don't you understand."
"I won't get tired of this, it's very entertaining, how much more can you take, Mr. Serman?
He would raise and lower the rope in a continuous cycle, Serman seemed to faint on each dive, and after a few minutes, Hank lowered the semi-conscious man and left him lying on the floor.
At that moment Hank's cell phone rang, and he answered. "Hank speaking."
"Hank, it's Larissa." A subtle sensual smile let itself be heard, "I was calling to know, how are you doing with my order, hihi."
"The package is in the room, but nothing new yet, I'll be confirming. Good night." Hank hung up abruptly, as he placed a new cigar in his mouth.
He took Serman from his coat and looked at his wallet, then put it back in his pocket. He took some water and splashed it on his face, then left the room to finish smoking his cigar in the moonlight.
At that, he felt a loud bang and Hank fell to the ground, Serman ran out while cursing the detective, and after a few minutes the man had disappeared into the night horizon and Hank on the ground let out a laugh. "Haha."
Another call came in on his cell phone, "Hank speaking."
"How's the mission going?"
"The fish took the bait." Hank would hang up and set out to follow Serman.
The detective had placed a tracking microchip in the man's wallet, opened the GPS on his cell phone, and began following him in his old Cadillac. Serman pulled up to a house, knocked frantically, and went inside. Hank pulled up to the place, unlocked the door with his set of master keys, and saw them, Larissa and Serman.
"No, please, don't do anything to me anymore," Serman knelt pleading for his life, tears, and sobs were not long in coming. "She was the one who planned everything, she seduced me and made me her lover, and then we planned my father's death to keep the money for ourselves."
"Imbecile, pusillanimous, you already rebelled everything, you're a cretin." Larissa angrily zangolotted Serman, who was emotionally broken.
"Wait a minute, Mrs. Larissa, that's not all, according to the will, the murdered father made a hierarchy of heirs for his fortune, in the first line Serman, if he died, the second in succession would be you, and the third Serman's younger sister, Ana. From the beginning, you wanted to get rid of the father and the son to keep the fortune, but you did not imagine that someone was looking for justice on their own. And you both fell into the trap, now you will have to pay for your crime, haha".
The detective locked the naked couple in the bedroom and then turned on the gas in the kitchen. The house was filled with the flammable fuel. Hank exited the house and got into his old Cadillac, from a safe distance he fired into the house, as Serman and Larissa ran out of the room. Immediately a fireball engulfed the place, and alarms and barking dogs warned of the tragedy.
Hank's cell phone rang. "Mission accomplished, it all looked like an accident."
"I thank you, thanks to your prestige I managed to convince Larissa to see you, now the deceased will rest in peace."
"You have nothing to thank me for, what I do, I do it for the sense of justice that lives in me, see you soon, Miss Ana."
He lit a cigarette and as he drove he released the smoke into the night sky, then lost herself in the darkness, his greatest friend.
The end.
