Our fears are illusionary, it is an emotion that comes from some past experience or from the outcome of the unknown and sometimes very unexplained reasons like phobias of certain things and they possibly could be coming from some deep-rooted memory of our past lives. The fear of Death is the biggest fear that maximum people have because no one knows what happens to the soul after death. There are lots of books that speak about it but none where you can validate. Death is not something where you can make an entry and then exit back again. Once you are gone it is over.
These fears grip us and they start creating psychological and emotional issues for us. The fear of the dark. Again, many people fear this. In childhood days in our bed time stories we heard stories like at night the witch came or the thief came and robbed the house. These kinds of stories leave a deep psychological impact and we start fearing darkness, associating it with all the bad things that can happen in that hour. We may have never seen anything of that sort but we still believe it because we have heard it in stories.
The fear of doing anything for the first time because we are not aware of how it will happen. Like when I started going for my Aerial Yoga, I was very fearful about doing flips, for many sessions I would not get confidence to do it. I would take support and hold the cloth to go down and I would see others doing it so effortlessly. But I had the fear of losing control and falling so I was not able to. Eventually when I did it, I found that it was nothing, I was so unnecessarily gripped in my fear. It was as easy as I was watching others doing it. As soon as something unusual comes up to us there is a trigger to our mind and then that trigger creates an emotion which one of it can be fear.
For some people activities like bungee jumping, sky diving are adventure activities and they feel thrilled but for some these provoke extreme level of fear and they would never want to do them. Our mind does a lot of imagination by itself and this imagination makes it think of outcomes which may never exist in reality. When we hear stories of loneliness of old people, we start thinking for ourselves what will happen to us when we get old and then old age becomes a fear for us, even though we have not even experienced any of it or we have not reached to that stage.
I personally believe that there are 2 main factors that can overcome fear. One is preparation and the other one is knowledge. Half known facts are dangerous and they can create lot of anxiety. Like the stories of ghosts when we hear, but we have never seen. If we understand the energy of that world and how we can become victim of that, if we have that knowledge we can always work with our energy and never get into that dimension. The fear of unknown or phobias, when we prepare ourselves well to face that situation, we will not be in fear but we will be confident to overcome. Also, there are other attributes like self-love, confidence, building self-esteem will help us deal with our fears very well.
Facing our fears is the only way to overcome them. If we keep running away from them eventually, they will grip us very badly and it would be difficult to get out of the trap.
