ANATOMY OF A HIT-PIECE

first of all, at what point did anyone think that a comedy routine was required to be FACTUAL ?

second of all, why the hell does THE NEW YORKER magazine want to assassinate the reputation of someone like hasan ?

when i heard about this "controversy" i immediately thought, "of course a comedian is going to embellish personal stories and re-tell the stories of other people as their own and re-contextualize events filtered through their own perspective, of course every comedian does this, comedy is first and foremost, entertainment"

but strangely, it's worse than that

if anyone ever tells you that "trusted" "establishment" "award winning" publications are more reliable than a random youtuber, this is the counterfactual everyone should be able to agree on
