Vulgarity in OTT movies and shows

in entertainment •  last month

Some of the movies on OTT platforms sometimes look like as if we are watching a Porn movie, there are no limits to nudity and exposing and it makes so uncomfortable for a family watch. There are some really good movies and shows but then they have the aspect of nudity, which makes it very awkward even for the one scene to watch it with family. Today children have access to all of this and even if there is a parental control it is possible that they can have access of it from outside. I don't know if censorship board exists for OTT releases, but it would be nice to have a governing body if it's not there, to regulate what can be allowed and what cannot be allowed.

In certain limits it is ok to show, but full nudity is not what I accept specially when they are released on general platforms which the whole family has access to. When my mom visits me, I am so careful of selecting a movie to watch, because even if the movie looks sensible or decent there is one such scene and that makes me uncomfortable. Yes, I am conservative on these things and I believe that everything has limits. There can be a lot of debate on this but I would like to say that these are my personal views.

I have respect for all genders, but sometimes how it is portrayed in these movies and shows is just not the right way and it is a wrong influence on young brains. In the bargain of selling they are crossing all limits, they think that complete nudity will sell their show. This even goes for violent movies, the level of violence shown in the movies nowadays is just so gross at times, that I feel like puking watching it.

I wonder how this whole industry will be in the next few years.

I am in favour of free speech and artistic expression, but think all art (including film/video) should be properly marked, so that viewers can avoid nudity, sexuality, violence, vulgarity, and other content. It should be created, but it should only be consumed by consenting adults. I myself don't allow my children to view anything like that, and generally limit my own exposure to most unnecessary violence and sexuality. But I support every adult being able to make their own decisions.

I do understand your views and also agree to it that labeling the content in the right manner helps, but there are times when even a good family movie has a little scene of vulgarity and that makes it uncomfortable to watch. Also the society that I have been raised in to contributes to these thoughts, as even a simple kissing scene would make us uncomfortable watching it with our own parents.

Yes, there should never be nudity, sexuality, violence, or vulgarity in movies marked "family" or "general audience".
