I rarely say this because, unfortunately, the overall quality of mainstream cinema and series has declined, but I like to be wrong. Before the premiere of this spin-off, I thought we'd get another shit like Season 2 of The Witcher. or the last season of GoT. Especially those two clowns made a big stench around "Game of Thrones" - until today nobody hired them for a big show (and they were supposed to do a very high-budget series for Netflix, something like "Altered Carbon", but based on old Chinese books ... Interesting why even Netflix backed out xD). And very well, let them be a living example of how the destruction of brands that are very difficult to destroy and you have to want to end up ends. My doubts grew further, because the creators of their woke-ism + "Game of Thrones" managed to avoid today's left-wing diversity crap (the idea of good, but in most cases abused).
Fortunately, I sometimes get confused. I like when there are many indications that a movie or series will be garbage and ultimately turns out to be at least good. For this episode, I was very tempted to give a 9/10, but I held back - 1 episode is a great set-up, presents us with the status quo, presents us with characters and gives us a lot of evidence that we are back in the world we like. Sometimes it's plastic, but much less than Netflix's "Witcher". It's true that I haven't praised the new HBO series for a long time, but well ... I'm wrong again, the old HBO probably still hasn't died and they still can show the highest level that TV can afford. The effects have not made an impression on me so far (they are good, but so far nothing more than that), but the photos, editing and atmosphere are just right! The knightly tournament looks very good - dynamic shots that perfectly convey the power of the lance's strikes and the speed of the clashes. The fights of ordinary knights were shown briefly, as in the new "Mortal Kombat", but it was enough. The editing and atmosphere made the biggest impression on me during childbirth - although it was only the first episode, I was sitting with similar emotions, as if it was the final of ST season 4. The whole scene, showing the brave prince, the stir of the royal family and the birth scenes ... Well, it was very strong. Especially a caesarean section performed on a queen. At first I thought that the cut would be classic, as it is done today - between the navel and the vagina. It was only in 1881 that they started to cut "relatively" normally, and before that no one played with women, but they cut as they wanted and that's it. If only to take the child out, and what would happen to a woman, everyone had a hard time with it. A woman was just as worth shit as a guy in the Middle Ages (well, a little more, because men could be sent to war). When I heard that they would cut from the womb upwards, I was genuinely terrified, imagining the same thing, but in the case of a man. Later, through a conversation with a friend, I found out when they started cutting normally and what it looked like before 1881. I knew it was bad, but not that much. I understand feminists even more than before.
As for the rest, I have nothing to complain about. The script is well written, we do not have hopelessly written dialogues, as by the left-wing and detached from reality girls (Netflix boasted very much that it takes such screenwriters, inferring from other streaming services, probably not only they use their services). Everything makes sense, B follows from A, as if I stepped back in time when well-written scripts were more common. The political intrigue, the problems of the main character and his successor (as well as other plots) have been interestingly started and have the potential for something good. The brutality turned out very well, I hope we'll have more scenes like cutting off hands for thievery, castration for raping etc. It would also be nice to see dragons burning someone alive, because there are as many as 10 of them.
Overall a great introduction. I don't know if I will cover an episode every week because I want to have something to review, but if there are more episodes of this level, I will definitely consider it. So far, solid +8/10
Rzadko to mówię, bo niestety ogólna jakość mainstreamowego kina i seriali spadła, ale lubię się mylić. Przed premierą tego spin-offu, myślałem że dostaniemy kolejne gówno, jak 2 sezon "Wiedźmina". czy ostatni sezon GoT. Zwłaszcza ta dwójka pajaców zrobiła duży smród wokół "Game of Thrones" - do dzisiaj nikt ich nie zatrudnił do dużego show (a mieli robić dla Netflixa bardzo wysokobudżetowy serial, coś jak "Altered Carbon", ale na podstawie starych chińskich książek... Ciekawe czemu nawet Netflix się wycofał xD). I bardzo dobrze, niech będą żywym przykładem na to, jak się kończy niszczenie marek, które bardzo trudno zniszczyć i trzeba tego wręcz chcieć. Moje wątpliwości dodatkowo urosły, bo twórcy eksponowali swój woke-izm + "Grze o Tron" udało się uniknąć dzisiejszych lewicowych pierdół o diversity (idea dobra, ale w większości przypadków nadużywana).
Na szczęście czasem zdarza mi się pomylić. Lubię gdy wiele wskazuje na to, że film lub serial będzie śmieciem, a ostatecznie wypada co najmniej dobrze. W przypadku tego odcinka, bardzo mnie kusiło by dać 9/10, ale powstrzymałem się - 1 odcinek świetnie rozstawia figury, przedstawia nam status quo, prezentuje nam postacie i daje wiele dowodów na to, że powróciliśmy do świata który lubimy. Czasami jest plastikowy, ale w zdecydowanie mniejszym stopniu niż "Witcher" Netflixa. Co prawda od dawna nie chwaliłem nowych seriali HBO, ale cóż... Ponownie się mylę, stare HBO chyba nadal nie umarło i ciągle potrafią pokazać najwyższy poziom, na jaki stać telewizję. Efekty póki co nie zrobiły na mnie wrażenia (są dobre, ale póki co nic ponad to), ale zdjęcia, montaż i klimat już jak najbardziej! Turniej rycerski wygląda bardzo dobrze - dynamiczne ujęcia, które doskonale oddały siłę uderzeń kopii i szybkość starć. Walki zwykłych rycerzy co prawda były skrótowo pokazane, jak w nowym "Mortal Kombat", ale to w zupełności wystarczyło. Montaż i klimat zrobił na mnie największe wrażenie podczas porodu - mimo, że to był dopiero pierwszy odcinek, to siedziałem z podobnymi emocjami, jakby to był finał 4 sezonu ST. Cała ta scena, pokazanie walecznego księcia, poruszenie u rodziny królewskiej i sceny z porodu... No to było bardzo mocne. Zwłaszcza cesarskie cięcie wykonane na królowej. Początkowo myślałem, że cięcie bedzie klasyczne, tak jak to się robi dzisiaj - między pępkiem, a pochwą. Dopiero w 1881 zaczęli ciąć "w miarę" normalnie, a wcześniej nikt się z kobietami nie bawił, tylko cięli jak chcieli i tyle. Byleby wyciągnąć dziecko, a co się z kobietą stanie, to każdy miał to już w dupie. Kobieta była tak samo gówno warta, co facet w średniowieczu (no, trochę bardziej, bo facetów można było wysłać na wojnę). Jak usłyszałem, że będą cięli od łona w górę, to autentycznie się przeraziłem, wyobrażając sobie to samo, ale w przypadku mężczyzny. Później dzięki rozmowie z przyjacielem dowiedziałem się, kiedy zaczęli normalnie ciąć i jak to wyglądało przed 1881. Wiedziałem, że było źle, ale nie aż tak. Jeszcze bardziej rozumiem feministki niż wcześniej.
Jeśli chodzi o resztę, to nie mam za bardzo się do czego przyczepić. Scenariusz jest dobrze napisany, nie mamy tu beznadziejnie napisanych dialogów, jak przez lewicowe i odklejone od rzeczywistości, dziewczynki (Netflix bardzo się chwalił, że bierze takie scenarzystki, wnioskując po innych serwisach streamingowych, chyba nie tylko oni korzystają z ich usług). Wszystko ma sens, B wynika z A, jakbym się cofnął w czasie, gdy poprawnie napisane scenariusze były częściej spotykane. Intryga polityczna, problemy głównego bohatera i jego następczyni (jak i inne wątki) zostały ciekawie rozpoczęte i mają potencjał na coś dobrego. Brutalność wyszła bardzo fajnie, mam nadzieję że będziemy mieli więcej scen typu odcinanie rąk za złodziejstwo, kastracja za gwałcenie etc. Byłoby miło też zobaczyć, jak smoki kogoś palą żywcem, bo tych jest aż 10.
Generalnie świetny wstęp. Nie wiem, czy będę omawiał odcinek co tydzień, bo chcę mieć coś do recenzji, ale jeżeli będzie więcej odcinków na takim poziomie, to na pewno to rozważę. Póki co, solidne +8/10
