Creativity in the workplace has long been recognized as an asset for various different competitive advantages as companies seek to tap into the creative ideas and aspirations of their employees. This concept has been largely propelled by several different theoretical frameworks. On one hand, this approach emphasizes the need for creativity in order to provide employees with the freedom to express themselves through their ideas. Additionally, it emphasizes the need for creativity within businesses so that ideas can be shared among different departments. On the other hand, the other approach emphasizes the need for creativity in order to provide employees with a competitive advantage within a particular industry.

These two different perspectives have both provided companies with the need to create various different solutions for their various problems. The two different perspectives also each have their own specific view on the different types of creative solutions that have been created over the years.

The overall perspective is essentially a functional view of creativity. This approach sees creativity as a key component of every function within the organization. It also views the function of the creative professional as being integral to the overall functioning of the organization and the individual within that organization.

On the other hand, the unique perspectives are fundamentally theoretical perspectives which seek to explain the nature of creativity. These perspectives are based on different theories regarding creativity, which have been around for many decades. In general, these theories focus on the nature of creativity in relation to an individual as well as the nature of creativity in relation to an organization.

From these two different organizational perspectives, many different creative solutions are being developed across a variety of industries. A common denominator among these creative solutions is that the goal of most of them is to enhance the overall quality of the work experience for employees while providing employees with the tools and resources to make their ideas a reality. Some creative solutions even help employees create their own unique work environments as they take control of their daily interactions.
