sometimes you don't need that big hectres of land to plant, you don't have to spend big before you can eat fresh / healthy.

What I do with my yard

Just behind the house a bit closer to the wall, i plant banana. Reason being that a banana tree is one tree easy to grow, not with long tap root so its not going to harm the building, just adequate supply of water and watch the banana sprout so well in the space of few month.

Another good thing about banana tree is that it keeps multiplying. Meaning with just one stem of banana planted it can multiply as much as possible, giving there is a space, a good soil and constant water supply to the tree.

The banana fruit tend to ripe more in the winter. In region like africa, the weather gets cozy and warm with some little sunshine which actually ripens the banana right on the tree.

A bunch cut off from the tree.
One mysterious thing about banana is that a tree of banana doesn't produce fruit twice. Which means once a particular tree produces a fruit, its advisable that such tree is cut off totally as it can't bear fruit again, thereby creating space for the little banana coming up.
