Knowing what my birds weighed more often is a method i did not quite adopt then when i started this poultry business, i do feel its not really necessary, maybe untill when i want to sell much later when they are fully grown, then i did not realise i was losing and missing something then.
Untill later my birds started losing some weight, how i got to know by carrying them and feel their density not even using a scale yet.
But i noticed it won't be good for me to just be guessing, so i make it a thing to find a scale and constantly weighing to be so certain so as to get the exact +ve or -ve of my birds interms of body mass
These birds certainly can not weigh the same, say they are hatched the same day or grow together does not mean they will have same weight.
But once I make it a habit to check their weight then i was able to figure out which ones were feeding well..
One funny thing about birds I've noticed, once there is a change or they are sick, whatsoever it will tell on their weight.
So, this is what i do, atleast twice in a week and i tend to record any damn reading i take. If any changes is recorded against the birds weight, i act swiftly i finding a solution, changing their feeds, getting multi-vitamins or if they look sick, getting the right antibiotics for them and then you won't have problems with birds dieing...
