I always love having coriander as a garnish or as a main ingredient in my cooking. However I have always struggled to keep it fresh whenever I wasn’t able to finish the whole lot. Each time I put it in the fresh section of the fridge, it will wilt or dry up in a matter of hours.
However this is a new kitchen hack I’ve learned recently and it has kept my coriander fresh for more than a week.
This is how it works :-
- Buy fresh coriander which has got roots still intact to it. (If you can’t find, it’s ok, this method still works)
- Once at home, immediately submerge roots in a glass or jar of water.
- Using a plastic bag, loosely cover the coriander. (This creates a unique ecosystem separate from the ecosystem of the fridge)
- Keep in fridge and it will keep your plant fresh for about a week
- Change water every few days.
This is a great hack and it works just as well for other fresh herbs like basil and other fresh herbs. (I am sure it is not a new hack but it is to me 🙂 )If you know of any other ways to storing your fresh herb, do write in the comment section below.
