In this episode, I show you how I build my bins out of brand new Rubbermaid containers.
For the last one, I drilled holes In the bottom to leave over another container but noticed I never really had much use for that as I didn't have my bins wet enough for the Worm juice to leak to the bottom.
When I moved the worms over you can see I wasn't why to bring a bunch of the old castings. the reason for this was to give them plenty of old microbiology to not make it a total shock with the new bed.
I used some peat and a little newspaper but for this bin. I will be doing more research on some other great sources as I am not a big fan of the peat as it is not very sustainable.
Building the bin
For the building the bin you will need the following items:
- A Rubbermaid container
- Drill or Knife
- Bedding like - Peat Moss, News Paper, Toilet Paper,
- Red Wigglers
The first thing to do is to drill some holes for the worms breath, I just use a small 1/4 (I think) drill it. I like to put 3 rows on the sides. The next thing I like to do is take pre-soaked peat moss and bedding and add it to the bin.
