Over the last two years, my team and I have planted more than 8500 trees and most of them are doing good.

We plant trees in school, colleges, universities, places of worship such as temples, masjids, churches, and almost any place good place we can find to plant trees.

Introducing Green Gulbarga

Gulbarga is the city where I was born, educated and I still live here. Although I have moved and lived in other cities I eventually came back to the city that I call my home.

Hence the name of our group is Green Gulbarga as we want to spread greenery in our dry city.

Why do we plant trees?

This is like one of the most frequently asked questions and the reason we plant trees for free is we want to fight global warming and provide a better environment for future generations.

Where do we plant trees?

We plant trees everywhere mostly in educational institutions and places of worship. We plant trees in schools, universities because it is a hub for young people and we want to motivate them to take up hobbies that make our planet greener and cleaner.

What kind of trees do we plant?

The climate in my city is mostly hot. The temperature ranges from 25 degrees to 35 degrees Celcius on an average and the summers can get as hot as 45 degrees Celcius.

We plant trees that can survive this dry and hot climate.

Some of the trees that we plant regularly are:

Neem tree/Nimtree/Indian lilac scientifically known as Azadirachta indica. It is native to India and can grow well in dry climates. It is known for its medicinal properties and the leaves, bark, roots have been used in Indian herbal medicine for thousands of years.

Honge tree is scientifically known as Millettia pinnata. It is also drought-resistant and native to India.

Jamun, Mango trees, Pomegranate, Figs, Banyan, Ficus, Coconut, Hibiscus, Malabar Neem, and many many more varieties.

Why do we plant trees for free? Where do we get money to buy trees?

We plant trees for free so that people will get motivated to plant trees and eventually they will form their teams and become Green leaders. We do not want people to worry about money when they are doing a good job.

Many people often want to do good things such as planting trees, saving animals, and saving rivers but they are stopped just because they do not have enough money to do good deeds.

We are a team of 12 who put in all the money needed from our own pockets and give common people a chance to be part of something good and great for our city, country, and world.

Do we do environmental awareness programs?

Yes, we do and most of the time I am the one who gives speeches, talks to the media educate kids while entertaining them.

Since we started in June 2018 I have given more than 200+ speeches in front of more than 50,000 people belonging to various age groups.

My audience is between 8 to 80 years of age and I am comfortable talking with them.

What are our future plans?

Well, right now we are just waiting for our lives to get back to normal and maybe next year we can start our planting activities.

Conclusion

I think this is enough information for this introductory post. I will make sure to post 1 environment-related post from tomorrow.
