2021 ASUS Laptop

My 2021 Laptop has issues I've mentioned since 2021. I've used it on and off since I got it from Amazon in 2021. It still has issues. I started officially using it as my main computer the last week or two of October of 2022. I have mentioned some of the problems like how it randomly freezes. I hope it is not hardware related. Perhaps software or more specifically driver related. Could be related to the CPU an/or GPU. It says AMD is the CPU and/or GPU. Perhaps 2 different units, a CPU and a GPU. Not sure if it is just one core of processors or two separate hardware units. The software driver for the GPU is Nvidia. That is what it says. I read on websites that the newer versions of Nvidia as of 2022 has bugs with my Ubuntu OS. I mentioned some or all of this already. But on top of that, it's not waking up from sleep. When I click on suspend or sleep, I cannot get it to wake up. I don't know why. On my 2016 Yoga, no issue. But on Yoga, it had Intel for the CPU instead of AMD. Is that an issue? Is it just a NVIDA issue? Could be software conflicts meaning different software do not get along with other software causing things to break, AKA bugs. Audio echo problem. I turned off OBS and still got this echo from videos I played off Bitchute and YouTube. I did not hear the echo when playing a video off my computer via VLC.

Hibernation Fixed
I got my hibernation fixed on my Ubuntu Mate 20.04 OS on my 2021 ASUS laptop. It was not working around 05:00 PM and before that. Not sure if it ever worked in the past on this current OS install or previous installs. I don't remember exactly. I thought it did work and maybe it was or maybe not. Maybe it never worked or it broke due to software conflicts. It could be a combination of issues. I want to assume it is not hardware related meaning it was not working but now it is working. In other words, my hardware did not change in the past hour. But perhaps it was software related. I don't know exactly how I fixed it. The previous 2 commands in ther terminal may have fixed it. Maybe just those two things. Let me repeat what I wrote in the terminal: sudo apt install pm-utils hibernate, sudo apt-get install linux-generic. And then sudo apt update, sudo apt upgrade, sudo apt dist-upgrade. So, I did those five commands in the terminal. I forget if there are differences between the meaning and terminology to Hibernation, Sleep, Suspend, and things like that. I think there may be. But I am using any of these words in the general sense of press a button on my laptop or on the suspend button on my Ubuntu OS on my screen to cause the computer to sleep. I was able to keep my laptop lid closed and I was able to press the button on the screen to suspend. I used my wireless USB keyboard to wake it up. Probably any or most keys on the keyboard can wake up the PC. So, it worked. Now, as of right now, sleep works. But I may still have GPU issues and other things as noted above. I will now look at that because I don't want my computer screen to continue to randomly freeze.

I went into the software updater program to update the Nvidia driver from 470 to 520 open tested. That was the most recent version. There were two 520 versions. I picked the one that said open and tested. I am going to try to restart. I can wait for my PC to freeze again after this. But I also want to try to do tests to see if my PC will continue to randomly freeze even after this update. Again, the problems may be this and/or other things too. Not sure. No. Failed. Downgraded driver down from 520 and 470 to 418. My external 4 TB was not mounting. So. sudo apt install gnome-disk-utility. Yeah. My Disk program was there a second ago. Perhaps it was off cuz I went to an earlier kernel version or install or whatever of my Ubuntu OS. Well it was as the Nvidia drivers broke my OS. I could not load. So, I had to load safe mode a few times to try a few other drivers before settling with 418. But I still need to try to break 418 or wait for it to freeze again. I really don't want to wait. Maybe I can stress test it or something.
