Let us understand a bit on the DoS Attack.
DOS Attack :
- Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack is a malicious attempt to interrupt the normal functioning of a computer or network by overwhelming it with traffic (or it is attempt to overwhelm the server with unauthorized requests so the authorized requests slow down to become unusable).
- A DoS attack can be launched by a single computer or multiple computers.
- The attack can be done in many ways, such as flooding the target with traffic, exploiting vulnerabilities in the target’s software, or consuming the target’s resources.
Some types of DoS attacks include Ping Flood, Smurf Attack, and Buffer Overflow Attack.
The indication of being under a DoS attack is inability to load certain websites, slow network functioning, failure to access specific websites, and sudden loss of connectivity across devices on the same network.
- The DoS attacks are illegal and can cause huge harm to the targeted system.
So if one is under the DoS attack contact your network administrator or security team immediately.
