I don't think sanity was ever more than a minority sport - an outlier that promises what few ever bother to achieve - coz, of course, the masses believe they have "common sense", and we finally see it as the monstrous lie that it always was.
The saddest part of the human condition is how the smart part of the mental algorithm is to become as dumb as possible. It automates as much as possible so as to be free to be creative, yet in that act it creates an automaton that has abandoned all creativity.

there are solutions - from what I can see, they are rare.
In psychology there is Dabrowski and Jung; otherwise look East to the mental sciences.
