als Neuling kann man nicht alles wissen und so sind mir Fehler unterlaufen, die ich nicht gesehen haben. Gott sei Dank gibt es Menschen, die einem sofort weiterhelfen. Was ist passiert? Es stand ein Update im DIG Universum an, doch den konnte ich nicht durchführen. Einmal, weil ich keine Kenntnis davon hatte und mein Raspberry hat zu dieser Zeit Punkt Fehlblöcke produziert.

Nun telefonierte ich mit @Dotwin1981, um das Problem zu lösen und im Hintergrund arbeite @Nerdtopiade an ein Ausweichplan, wenn alles schiefgeht. Erst mal gingen wir auf Fehlersuche und versuchten das Update noch einmal aufzuspielen. Das schlug fehl und wir versuchten den Fehler weiter einzugrenzen. Nach einigen Minuten hatten wir die Antwort, was defekt ist „Error: failed to initialize database: resource temporarily unavailable", na toll, die Datenbank hat es zerlegt.

First we went troubleshooting and tried to play the update again. That failed and we tried to narrow down the error further. After a few minutes we had the answer as to what was defective "Error: failed to initialize database: resource temporarily unavailable", great, the database took it apart.

Es musste alles was mit DIG zu tun hat gelöscht werden und neu aufgespielt werden. Wer glaubt das wäre schon alles, der irrt sich gewaltig. Mir wurde so beiläufig gesagt, dass wir gegen die Zeit arbeiten. Ich habe nur gedacht, bau bloß kein Druck auf. Es wurden mir viele Befehle rübergeschickt, die ich nach und nach abgearbeitet habe.
Als ich fertig war, hieß es Daumen drücken. Wir starten den DIG-Server neu und er läuft. Ja wohl, dachte ich. Doch dann kam ein „Da stimmt was nicht“, ah nein gerade das wollte ich nicht hören. Mein Server hat mit der Synchronisierung von Vorne angefangen, den wir waren eigentlich bei 340.000 Blöcke. Und mein Raspberry war erst bei 14.862 Blöcke. Nach Schätzung von Dotwin hätte das synchronisieren gute 5 Tage gedauert oder auch etwas länger.

When I was done, it was fingers crossed. We restarted the DIG server and it was up and running. Yes probably, I thought. But then came a "something is wrong", ah no just what I didn't want to hear. My server started the synchronization from the beginning, we were actually at 340.000 blocks. And my Raspberry was only at 14,862 blocks. According to Dotwin's estimate, the synchronization would have taken a good 5 days, or a bit longer.

Das hießt fast alles noch einmal machen und einiges nach kontrollieren und die Zeit lag uns im Nacken. Dann haben wir den Server noch einmal gestartet. Jetzt hieß es wieder einmal Daumen drücken, obwohl die liefen schon blau an, vom ganzem drücken. Doch dieses Mal hat es sich gelohnt, es lief endlich so wie er sollte. Ab diesem Punkt konnten wir nicht mehr machen und nur noch abwarten bis beide synchron laufen. 20:49 Uhr konnte ich auf dem DIG Discord bei den anderen Validatoren vermelden, dass mein Raspberry jetzt wieder synchron läuft mit allen anderen.

From this point on we could do no more and only wait until both run synchronously. 20:49 clock I was able to report on the DIG Discord with the other validators that my Raspberry is now running in sync again with all the others.

Es war ein spannender Nachmittag und einem glücklichen Ausgang. Ich kann nur sagen es wird nicht langweilig. Nur durch Hilfe eine Community konnte das Problem gelöst werden. Dafür bin ich echt dankbar, ich weiß nicht, ob man das nachvollziehen kann. So was ist nicht immer selbst verständlich und mir stehen immer noch Tränen in den Augen, wenn ich darüber nachdenke.
