We all know that tomorrow an important decision will be taken in the EU Parliament. In my MLT Telegram group there was this call today, which I am quoting here because I think it is important for all of us.
Good morning MILCians!
Looks like tomorrow will be an important day for Crypto in Europe. So I would like to draw attention to the upcoming amendment of the EU parliament about Transfer of Funds regulations. It contains several very harsh paragraphs about personal identification enforcements with unhosted wallets. That means every transaction from e.g. a MetaMask wallet to another, to an exchange, a DeFi protocol or withdrawals from exchanges to such wallets worth over 1000 EUR must be reported to the financial authorities with full KYC data, which we all know is technically impossible.
This twitter thread by Cameron Winklevoss from Gemini sums it up:
The decision about this amendment is being made tomorrow. So in the interest of all of us I would like to urge every EU-member of our community to use her/his right of free speech and reach out to your responsible EU-representative.
