Sie war der Star des Pariser Salons 1955 und der Inbegriff automobiler Avantgarde: Kaum ein anderes Auto hat Citroën so sehr geprägt wie die DS. Der Citroën DS hatte zum ersten Mal bei einem Serienfahrzeug ein zentrales hydraulisches System für Federung (Hydropneumatik), Bremsen, Schaltung sowie Lenkunterstützung (Servolenkung) eingesetzt.
