Enough of the serious stuff already.
It is Sunday so you deserve a day off the news and views.
Lovely sunny day too.
This is a Yamaha from 1978 that I have been restoring for 2 - yes 2 years.
I have had some of my bikes (restorations) featured in motorcycle magazines over the years. I will find the articles if anyone wants to see them, one day, possibly.
Practical sports bikes in the UK (magazine) wanted to come over and do a review of my bike collection; although I declined, I did not feel like handing the keys over to some of my motorbikes - watching them thrash them and them making money from it whilst I have to pick up the bill.
Of course they would be getting a free holiday out of it too, abroad, nice gig if you can get it.
So what did I do to the bike?
This particular model came from France so had pedals (that did not work) but due to stupid regulations it had them, now it does not.
I swapped the rear swing arm which left me with no footrests, so I made some to fit from a Honda xl500 (modified) so now it has some.
The exhaust is a one off and the red stay bar is from a handlebar from an off road motorcross bike, the stay bar or brace from the middle of them.
The rear suspension is also from a different bike and new.
Handlebars are one off aluminum and a unique design especially for this bike.
The seat unit is also a 1 off and home made from fiberglass.
The front fender/mudguard is off a later version of this bike.
The back mudguard came from a bike named Fantic motors as I remember.
I tuned the engine and considering the age and the fact it is air cooled, it does 65 mph which for a 50cc moped I consider more than adequate.
I tend to re-use things, hence why it is a bitsa this, bitsa that.
I will have this one finished this spring and possibly (definitely maybe) send the photos of it to some magazines.
I need to make a stand for it too as that went with the old swing arm.
Since the photos I have made a chainguard from aluminum.
Next up today is a Yamaha rd 350lc from 1982, getting there slowly.
The finished product will look similar to this.
Have a superb sunshine filled day.
They don't make them like they used to! Ah, the good old days! 😊😎
For sure they do not, got a barn full of classic bikes and another 10 in my workshop. 👍
Oh, you're full on into this! 😆😎🏍️
Been restoring them for fun for decades 👍
Bro, you are too cool! 😎 Motorcycles and guns! 🤣 My kind of guy! 💪 Do you also do MMA? 😆
muai thai is my thing, Thai boxing brother.
Oh, I'm fucking loving it! 🤣 And here I thought you were some tin-foil geek! 😆 No offense! 🙈 Just being humorous... please don't slap me! 😂
Lol, I only do self defense, no interest in slapping anybody for no reason, and Sunday is fun day, so run with it. I have a tattoo on my arm from my time in Thailand that says number 1, @rycharde or my dull mate @lucylin that both live there should by now be able to read Thai and confirm it, but I have my doubts lol.
A dude I beat in the ring just for fun on a night out gave me the tattoo for free, with needles and no electric appliances. Got to keep fit 1 way or another.

🤣
🤦♂️ You won't be getting any votes for that, Bruv! 🤣
I used to read those renovation articles when I wanted a classic car. Cars tho, not bikes unless you count scooters, which you probably don't. I'm a bit girlie in my taste for these but admire your skills indeed.
Thank you kindly, I used to restore cars too, mainly old mini cabriolets, and some classic cars, but they are rare now and even though I have more space to do cars, I stick to bikes now.
This one had sat in a guys garage for 20 years when I bought it, it was covered in rust, and as my friend towed me from the garage it took him over a mile to see me waving frantically to stop as all 4 brakes had seized, took me 6 months to finish the car including a new roof.
Bonnet was slightly open but that is because I had just done a service on the engine.
My sister has had some lovely cars, an old anglia cabriolet was my fave, I had a VW karman beetle cabriolet which I loved so much but couldn't keep up. Wish I'd learned welding. I'd love to renovate old cars, I like all things old really. My mum was an antique fanatic so I probs get it from her.
"VW karman beetle cabriolet" would be worth a small fortune now.
Oh please don't rub it in. I had kids and a mortgage so had to let it go. Worst car experience of my life. LOved that beetle.
Oh my god, you are such a none mechanical wankerette, every bike I own is a pain in the ass in it's own way, you have to learn to live with it or sell it, not a car, not a bike without problems, such is life.
Wow! This awesome. Nothing really gets to extinction it just transforms into something new. This is great work buddy. I would love to read the older reviews you had.
Happy Easter and enjoy the best life can afford.
Cheers!
Cheers buddy, will find the magazines when I am at my workshop tomorrow, have a superb day and week.
Thanks as I look forward to seen them. Cheers
