Good morning, dear friends, and welcome to another beautiful new week.
Our lives can be either blessed or burdened by knowing the truth. When truth is put into practice, blessings result. We are burdened by truth that is not utilized. Jesus invites everyone who is struggling under a heavy load to seek rest from Him in today's verse, promising that His weight is light and His yoke is easy. This verse refers to a yoke or a set of scales using the Greek word zygόs. Both of them need to be balanced in order to function correctly.
An ox team is informed that there are fields to be plowed when a farmer puts a yoke on them. When we take on Jesus' burden, we realize that we have tasks to complete. It doesn't matter if we will work; it matters who we work for. We don't get out of a yoke. It is the one in control who puts the yoke around our necks. For those who do not follow Christ, Satan, the world's master, lays a yoke around their necks. Jesus is our Master and Lord when we submit to Him.
Who is wearing the yoke? The yoke of Satan is one of enslavement and hardship. Jesus has a burden that is easy, light, and full of blessings.
"Sing to the LORD a new song—His praise in the assembly of the godly. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King. Let them praise His name with dancing, and make music to Him with tambourine and harp. For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the afflicted with salvation." - Psalm 149:1-4"
