Living a Purposeful Christian Life

Ever notice how effortless it is to opportunistically float through life? Days become weeks, weeks become months, and months become years as work, school activities, social obligations, and leisure activities start to blend together.

You and I must deliberately, consciously, and fervently pursue living like followers of Christ with all of our hearts. Nobody ever finds Christian maturity and Christlike character by chance, and it never happens quickly.

I think we can all name individuals who choose to live purposefully meaningful and pious lives, either because we know them personally or because we admire them from afar. These individuals bear the fruits of a life centered around Christ and His Kingdom. These are the lovely people who see emulating Christ as their life's ultimate purpose and are prepared to reinterpret all other desires in the context of that quest. We are greatly inspired by the modest, straightforward faith of common men and women who choose to live every day as if it were their last, eagerly awaiting and praying for the day when the Lord comes back in glory to rule and reign.

The simplest method to stay awake is to keep busy and involved in work that involves your complete being—mind, body, and soul—if you've ever attempted to stay awake all night. You are nearly guaranteed to be disappointed if you go to bed, turn out the lights, and then decide that you will not sleep!

The greatest approach to "stay awake" in your religion is to give up aimlessly cruising through life and instead make the decision to follow Christ with all of your heart. Seek guidance from those who have persevered in their faith and take note of their example. Seek them out if you can, and ask for their insight and counsel on leading a purposeful Christian life.
