We are tempted to take matters into our own hands and hold onto everything for the time being. But what really puts us in a position to offer throughout our golden years is waiting on wants and saving for needs.

Self-denial and self-sacrifice are necessary for future savings. Spenders find this particularly challenging. You indulge and relish the occasion because you want to treat yourself to something nice after a job well done. As with your 10% donation to the church and the Lord's work, it could be a good idea to set aside 10% for long-term savings.
