God loves us too much to abandon us without notice or opportunity to make plans. Paul reveals in another apocalyptic text the reason why believers must be on guard in the final days. Paul spoke without holding back when he described a society where people would be self-centered, greedy, arrogant, blasphemous, disrespectful of their parents, violent, despisers of virtue, treacherous, arrogant, and possess a kind of godliness while rejecting its existence. He advises us to avoid these individuals (II Timothy:2-5).
A society obsessed with money and materialism, a population engulfed in self-indulgence and lacking self-discipline, and a bland church that outwardly appears powerful but lacks purity are all telltale signs of the times. But everything is not lost in the news. In the final days, God will pour forth His Spirit on all people, according to a promise revealed by the prophet Joel. Our sons and daughters will prophesy, our elderly men will have heavenly dreams, and our young men will see visions of God. Everybody who invokes His name will receive rescue from Him. Among His people, salvation and deliverance shall be obvious (Joel 2). God moves, even in dangerous times!
