God informed Cain that after killing his brother and lying to hide the crime, Abel's blood screamed out for justice from the earth. We are custodian of our brothers, God said in response to Cain's query. When He sent Ezekiel to the wandering nation of Israel centuries later, He made sure that Ezekiel understood this. In Ezekiel 3:18, the Lord forewarned Ezekiel that he would have to shed their blood if he did not sound the alarm to save the wicked in their sin and they perished.
It is the duty of the virtuous to bear witness for the fallen. God will hold us accountable if we neglect to accomplish this and souls are consigned to hell. We shall have their blood on our hands. Paul said that he was "innocent of the blood of all men" during his farewell speech to the Ephesian elders. He had fully, ardently, and unapologetic preached the gospel. It was impossible for the unsaved to attribute it to him. We have a sacred duty and a lofty calling. Until we have exhausted all efforts to lead those lost people to the life-saving truth of Jesus Christ, our hands remain stained with the blood of the lost.
