It's okay to stop what we're doing and walk away from life sometimes. It's not a sign that we're doing something wrong or that we're bored; rather, it's a time to rest, to lie down in green pastures and let God replenish your soul.
As a Christian writer and blogger, authenticity is essential to your spiritual life. I pray that I would never write a word of guidance, advice, or encouragement to you that I haven't applied to my own walk with the Lord. To me, being authentic as a Christian means constantly growing closer to Jesus. It doesn't mean acting flawless; rather, I try to be the real deal and still live a life that is worthy of imitation.
I don't think readers or society as a whole are searching for a picture of perfection. However, the world must identify and become aware of real Christians who they can emulate. All of us seek out other followers of Christ with whom to walk in unity as we pursue a deeper relationship with God. The Beatitudes are one source where we can discover a list of characteristics that God values in His true followers. You will observe how each of the beatitudes runs counter to the norms of society, but you will also see Jesus model each quality in action. Therefore, incorporating the beatitudes into our daily lives is a wise strategy if our aim is to become like Christ and live authentically in our faith. So let's examine this more closely.
We are poor in spirit when we cast aside our arrogance and acknowledge to God that we are completely without Him. We cannot enter the kingdom of heaven without permission from God. James 4:7–10 instructs us to live in closeness to God, walk in submission to Him, and maintain our humility before Him. This is the path to spiritual poverty.
I just received a review at work, and in one area where I thought God had challenged me, I gave myself a "needs improvement" rating. It has to do with continuing to be polite and modest at all times. When I allow a haughty demeanor to seep into my speech or refrain from offering gentle words, it grieves me greatly. God is willing to console us when we grieve over our transgressions. My supervisor gave me the same rating of "exceeds expectations" in my review. I am thankful to a God who, in moments of aggravation, gives me the grace to act above the wants of my sinful heart.
So who are the most powerful people in the world? A list published by Forbe's can be seen HERE. Let me caution you, though, before you go check it out: Jesus is not included. The individuals on the Forbes list will not inherit the earth if they do not know God. Thankfully, we are on a far more significant list. The one that our Father has prepared for us, one that entitles us to much more than this world can give. According to Philippians 3:7, knowing Christ entails knowing that everything the world has to offer is worthless. While the world feeds us junk food, Christ gives us with healthy food.
