A loving father expresses the love of his heavenly father for his child. Redeemed fathers are affectionate toward their children because they are overflowing with gratitude for Christ's consolation and love. Hugging our kids and grandkids comes naturally when the Holy Spirit provides us a comforting embrace.

Maybe you embrace and kiss your kids when you get home from work and when you leave the house every day. You should not go without making emotional deposits in your most valuable relationship account. Your child is your little love safe, just waiting for their father to give them a caring touch. Start giving kisses and embraces. Approach a youngster with caution and compassion if their heart aches from fear, rejection, or physical pain. Listen with open arms and sympathetic ears. Fathers who are affectionate are connected to their children, while distant fathers are cold and impersonal. Your tender words sow the seeds of healthy adult children who yearn to return home.

You give Almighty God your affections because He gives you His. A parent who has experienced the love of his heavenly parent firsthand is able to fully and rightly love his children. Adult children who have seen their father's affection are more likely to display it themselves. So, look for love above and give it to others below.
