God is not able to lie. Truth is all he deals with. Conversely, Truth is unrelated to Satan. He lies, and he is the father of lies. We ignore the Truth because of a perverse concoction of deceit, haughtiness, and pride. The Devil himself serves as our caution. In a moment of self-deception, he declared in Isaiah 14:14. He challenged Truth head-to-head, and God cast him out of paradise. Of the angels who fell with him, one third were duped by him. Using the same falsehood he told himself, he tricked Eve. He still stalks the unwary like a roaring lion, looking to eat them.
He twists the Bible to cause us to question. He helps us to construct an alternative reality that affirms our righteousness and refutes the errors in the Bible. We are fooled if we believe we are smarter than others or that finding different truths will bring us closer to God. Greater than that ancient snake is the God who resides within us! In order to protect us against Satan's cunning, He has given us the truth found in His Word and given us the armor of God.
