Created in the likeness of a collective God, we are collective beings. Furthermore, although having a regular schedule of alone time when we work on finding inner peace with God and ourselves is admirable and proper, this cannot be our main way of living. We are aware of who we are by design when we coexist with others.

Romans 15 informs us that spending time with other people can bring us a lot of happiness and refreshment. However, take heed of this beverage's composition and Paul's company. These are more than just acquaintances he had a few common interests in. These relationships, framed in our own time, frequently revolve around a love of a sports team, specialty coffee, interior design, or a myriad of other interests and activities. Furthermore, although this degree of interpersonal connection is not intrinsically bad and can even be very joyful in many situations, it is not the kind of community that uplifts us to our core.

The renewal Paul experienced came from fellow believers who labored alongside him in prayer to God on his behalf (v. 30). They joined Paul in that holy task, viewing it as a component of their calling, in addition to being aware of the fundamental purpose of his life.

Are there any friendships that reach this level of understanding and significance?

We are increasingly conscious of our need for this form of Spirit-led rejuvenation the longer we live. No one can be born into God's mission in isolation; we are all invited into it. If we want to be deemed faithful to the very end, we need to surround ourselves with men and women who support and inspire us as we strive to be an inspiration to them.

Refuse to live a life that merely scratches the surface. The Lord is eager to delve further into the enigma of his love for you. Accompany him on this amazing journey by inviting a group of believers to follow in his footsteps!
