Good morning, dear friends, and welcome to another beautiful day.

Paul delves into many of the most fundamental and profound ideas of the Christian religion in Romans 6. oneness with Christ. death and rebirth. the death of our former selves. I do, however, want us to consider one picture today, which is the idea of enslavement and liberty.

Paul doesn't hesitate to remind us that, aside from Christ's redemptive work, we are slaves to sin. Although slavery can mean many different things, in this case, it is synonymous with losing one's autonomy. A slave's volition is completely crushed and subjugated; they are only able to carry out their master's wishes. Paul is quick to emphasize that everyone is a slave to sin, regardless of one's position in the world and in connection to other people. Sin is a ruthless despot who never provides anything in return. It simply brings misery, loneliness, and despair, despite its lofty claims of immense delight and happiness.

Paul, on the other hand, extends an invitation to experience the freedom that comes from our unity with Christ today and every day. But, and this is an important aspect of our discipleship, freedom in Christ does not equate to total independence. After being freed from sin, we are not left to live fully autonomous lives in which we have ourselves as our own ruler. This is a deception spread by our adversary to keep us captive! Maintaining the status of a slave is a necessary part of living as a disciple. The distinction stems from the personality and traits of the person we serve, not from who we are as servants.

Serving God is an act of union with his love, which changes every aspect of our existence since God is love. True independence can be attained through this service. Consequently, make the decision now to reunify yourself to Christ and welcome the freedom that comes from having a good relationship.

"Sing to the LORD a new song—His praise in the assembly of the godly. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King. Let them praise His name with dancing, and make music to Him with tambourine and harp. For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the afflicted with salvation." - Psalm 149:1-4"

Wishing you a lovely day
