The Day of the Lord will arrive with the suddenness of a robber in the night. With a monstrous roar, the sky will vanish. II Peter 3:10 states that the earth and everything on it will be completely destroyed by fire, while the heavenly bodies will be consumed by it. John witnessed the New Jerusalem, as lovely as a bride dressed for her husband, descending from heaven following this massive conflict. God announced that He would now make His home among His people, where He will dwell with us and dry every tear of grief that comes to our eyes. Death will no longer exist, and we won't feel anguish, grief, or sadness.
With 1500 kilometers on each side, the New Jerusalem will resemble a complete square. Beautiful diamonds embellish the city's foundations. Its gates are made of pearl, its walls made of jasper. The earth's nobles will pour through the gates, never stopping, bringing the honor and glory of their nations with them. A river of life, pure as crystal, will pour from the throne. The leaves of the tree of life that grows on either side of the river are used to heal the nations. The entire city will have a golden shine about it. At last, we will behold our beloved's face and rule with Him eternally.
