Good morning, dear friends, and welcome to another beautiful new week.
The disciples of Jesus have been searching for clues that He will return even before He died on the cross. Jesus foretold a string of happenings, some of which would happen right after His crucifixion and others of which would take generations to come to pass. Jesus said that not a single stone would be left on top of another and that the Second Temple in Jerusalem will be destroyed. When Titus stormed Jerusalem in AD 70, he destroyed both the Temple and the city. He also took the holy instruments, which the High Priest had previously been the only one to see, and paraded them through Rome's streets.
Until the Day of the Gentiles came to pass, Jesus promised His disciples that the Gentiles would trample Jerusalem. 1948 saw the creation of the state of Israel, but it wasn't until 1967 that Israeli paratroopers invaded the Old City and took possession of the land that had been stolen from the Jews nearly two millennia earlier. Here we stand at the undeniable end of time, with our eyes still fixed on the sky because we know that He is coming back. There are omens in the heavens, national grief, and a generalized fear of what lies ahead. The cards are piled high. He is about to establish his kingdom.
"Sing to the LORD a new song—His praise in the assembly of the godly. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King. Let them praise His name with dancing, and make music to Him with tambourine and harp. For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the afflicted with salvation." - Psalm 149:1-4"
