Do You Have Too Many Photos In Your Post?

in dailyblurt •  3 years ago  (edited)

Think about it. You're busy scrolling through your feed, trying to make the most of your Blurt time so you can make the most of your investment and comment on people's work because they are worth it and you want them to stick around, and you might even make another friend. If you're like me, one of the reasons you love these crypto socials is the global connection too - it's pretty cool that you can see what some dude in Indonesia is doing, or Paris, or Ghana.

You open a post, and begin to read and scroll. Nice story. Oh look, a photo of a butterfly. Then another butterfly, from an ever so slightly different angle. Then another one, from the other side. Hell, there's 45 pictures of the same butterfly. I'm dying here. In fact I've stopped scrolling and backed out and I can't even leave an upvote because I feel my time has been wasted.

Butterfly guy, or grasshopper guy, or sunset girl, or flower woman, I like your subject. And I like YOU. But have you ever heard the expression LESS IS MORE?

Being selective about your content can make for a far better user experience. Once I've seen one butterfly I don't need ALL your shots (and please burn the blurry ones). Think about wowing your audience with the VERY BEST, and a little story to go with it, rather than assaulting me with them ALL.

I totally get that if you are truly showing off your camera artistry, a mid, long and close up shot is necessary, but most of us are taking happy snaps with our phones.

Right now you're thinking I'm a grumpy old cow, and you're probably bang on there, granted. And you're probs thinking .. whoa, and this is from a body who shares FAR too much fungus bollocks. Fair play. I'll take that on the chin, if you can remove a few hundred photos of the same thing from your post.

Now, for coffee.

Much love, @riverflows xx

I’m hopeless I often take 500 photos so narrowing it down to 30 is impressive for me it helps now I’ve learnt to do layouts and make them a bit more funky. You know what I think lots of ppl say do this don’t do this etc I think sometimes you just have to be yourself. I like loads of pics so I guess other ppl do too

  1. Your photos are professional and stunning
  2. You do layouts
  3. You don't do 500 blurry photos of the one insect

❤️😋

Note disclaimer about photographers that are doing good work and showing it off over blurry happy snaps of same thing, that's what drives me wild, not good photographers work curated into a good selection like your London one the other day!

haha oh yeah I know what you mean, I think everyone thinks they are a photographer these days :D

Here's a blurry pic of a mushroom to prove my point. I have 590 others from different angles . Should I do a post? 🤪🤦‍♀️🍄😂😂 I actually wish id brought the mirrorless with me. You can slap me for posting another mushroom thing now 🤪

I take a lot of photos on my phone tbh unless they are professional shoots or macros, it's mostly in the editing I think I use after light for effects. I ant to get a better point and shoot like a canon Powershot as a happy medium

Phone cameras are amazing these days. But the person behind it matters too, and composition, and trying not to get camera shake/blur!

I like mushrooms :) I just don't dare forage them myself ha

Oh the best thing to do is familiarise yourself with say, three edibles and where they grow. And when you THINK you've found them, use a plant ID app or google lens, and check against books or online forums like here or god forbid Facebook and ask people. Coz once you know, you know! Knowledge is everything.

Totally agree you can have 30 or more photos but professionally laid out and all different not just one butterfly gets my attention and @ultravioletmag ticks all my boxes even more so now that she has mastered the new layout method :)

Yeah that was a cracking post, as are yours. Quality!

Not at all, if anyone, that would be me 😅😂
I like nothing more than piss taking, sarcastic people. . . life is too short. . . we should all have a laugh.
This is why I feel at home here, lol.

They were in the blog when i was on HH, only 4 pictures of them at the end, i just thought since you love butterflies, you should also see them 😅

Ah, well, you know I see fucking thousands of butterflies here, from all angles, I probably blocked them out of my memory, between those and the flowers.

Good morning. I haven't gotten around to getting a phone with a decent camera yet. So one or two of my photos will be blurry. In that case, I will try to include an intersting store.

I guess ignore and don't upvote is the best option. In one way or another we get lazy. Still posting more than five full sized pictures in a blog seems to deter from the story. It also uses bandwith and image storage.

Me: I'm going to say what I think on Blurt for a change
Also Me: Oh no, I hope I don't offend anyone, because that's awful.

Lol.....I'm not that picky, really. Of course ignoring and not upvoting is always an option, but when I've already clicked on it and I'm knee deep in three million photos of the same mealyworm, well, then I get grumpy ahaha...

I agree five pictures is the magic limit.

Hello, Ghana guy here. Lucky you! I’m probably the first Ghanaian you’ve seen on here. Great advice though. I’ll take it. For free lol.

Doesn't @leifasaur live in Ghana or did I get that wrong? I wasn't directing it at any one in particular :)

Yh my bad. He does live in Ghana. I forgot:)

See, I know two people in Ghana! Amazing

Yeah I am. I think @zology69 has added some other users in Ghana also. I have tried but they are yet to use it. It is a small world in the end. My wifes brother finished the same school that @zology69 goes a few years ago.

It's a super small world. I'm honoured to know some people from Ghana.. love learning about the country through your eyes!

Yes, I added a couple of my friends, but they’re not very active at the time.

My wifes brother finished the same school that @zology69 goes a few years ago.

You should bring him over to Blurt. I’d love to hear his stories from back then. I’m sire he’ll have a lot to say.😅

About adding people, I was hoping we could have a discussion about Blurt promotions in Ghana. Weird that I’m brining it up in a comment section of an entirely different person’s post(sorry about that riverflows). Maybe you can give me your discord or something and I’ll message you?

My discord is the same as my username here.

shouldn’t there be a 4-digit tag attached to it?

I am guilty and a picture overloader offender. Sometimes I even hit the limit on blurt and have to go to another platform to finish. I am sure I could also break up my posts into a few different posts. But for now I think I have found my grove and if you know my blogs and enjoy them you usually know what you get yourself in for.

I try to have a lot of variety in my shots. But your feedback is also valued and food for thought.

I've loved your posts, don't get me wrong! I find yours varied and interesting, and broken up by interesting stories ❤️

I think we can all be selective with our photos - it's only when I see tons of the same thing it drives me nuts ❤️🤦‍♀️ it's like if I shared five of exactly the same mushroom from various angles... Kinda tedious! Xx

Yes I can very much understand your point. And the blury night shots of some cars driving by on a road lol. I have seen those posts too.
