In a smoky room she toiled all night
Mixing herbs and oils by candlelight
A pinch of this, a drop of that
Stirring the steaming witch's vat
She sang a spell to bind true love
Added a lock of hair from a white dove
Poured in rosewater collected at dawn
Hoping her efforts would not be forlorn
Into a vial the potion was poured
Corked and sealed, this love elixir was stored
Given to her beloved when next they met
So he'd never their love forget
But a love that's false can never last
The enchantment faded as seasons passed
Hearts must be given freely to endure
Not from potions but feelings pure
So she brewed an antidote to set love free
No more spells or charms, just let it be
A lesson learned, she's wiser now
True love's not found in a witch's vow
