MEV Boost

MEV Boost

It is the same service as Flashbot, but the difference is that a new role group called Builder is added between searcher and relay.

MEV Boost builder plays almost the same role as the builders appearing in Ethereum PBS(Proposer-Builder Separation), collects the transactions received from the searcher, constructs the block with the highest expected MEV profit, and delivers it to the relayer.

After that, the relayer verifies the block sent by the builders, just like Flashbot, and delivers it to the block creator.
In this case, the block producer must connect the MEV Boost software to the consensus client to receive the blocks generated by the builders.
According to Flashbot, the staking rewards of validators can increase by up to 60% when using MEV Boost.
Flashbots are currently very active, with about 81% of Ethereum relay blocks being generated by Flashbots. Accordingly, some are expressing concerns about centralization.

Cosmos Case

According to the ATOM2.0 white paper released at the end of September this year, Cosmos will tokenize MEV and activate blockspace auctions through the Interchain Scheduler.

Among L1 blockchains, it is particularly important for Cosmos to activate the interchain MEV, because the number of app chains is large and the assets are fragmented (the asset price is different for each chain), so there is no way to stabilize the asset price through Arbitrage.

If tokens exist on different chains, there is no guarantee that they will succeed even if they find an arbitrage opportunity.
If it was Ethereum, an arbitrage transaction could easily pass within one block with a flash loan. Yes (e.g. arbitrage fails because chain A buys token Z for $0.9 but fails to sell token Z on chain B at $1.1 in time).

Accordingly, the Cosmos camp came up with the idea of creating a separate consumer chain called the Interchain Scheduler and tokenizing (NFT) the block space in an auction format and selling it.
When the interchain scheduler is released, Cosmos protocols will be able to transfer blockspace tokens to the consumer chain, and buyers will be able to bid for blockspace with $ATOM to confirm arbitrage opportunities.
Part of the sales from the token sale will go to the protocol that sold the blockspace, and the rest will be linked organically with the Interchain Allocator in a way that goes to the Cosmos Hub Treasury.
