Space Force major proposes Bitcoin mining for Pentagon defense strategy
OK, this may seem odd to some.
As the popularity and adoption of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) increase, some crypto enthusiasts see their potential utility well beyond mere digital money, an investment asset, or a hedge against inflation, including one major in the United States Space Force, who envisions their role in the national cyber-security defense system.
Major Jason Lowery has proposed that the U.S. should mine and stockpile Bitcoin as a weapon of self-defense, Politico reported on March 30.
Lowery has also published a surprising bestseller: “Softwar: A Novel Theory on Power Projection and the National Strategic Significance of Bitcoin”
Amusingly,
An Air Force spokesperson confirmed only Lowery’s rank, that he was a U.S. Air Force fellow at MIT, and that he is stationed at Patrick Space Force Base in Florida. Joan Rubin, executive director of MIT’s System Design and Management program, confirmed the thesis was submitted as part of Lowery’s graduate studies.

Some of the ideas may sound suitably spaced-out, and the conclusions may not be stellar, but there is a real background to these discussions: the DARPA-funded "Are Blockchains Decentralized?" Also, see this DARPA list of projects on decentralisation. One key issue is how to maintain a robust and active mission even when communication with some central control is not possible, without some consensus algorithm deviating from such mission aims.
The centralising tendencies of apparently decentralised systems are thus security flaws in maintaining a control structure while operating independently of a command centre.

in orbit now... 🥓
centralised, just distributed.
I have no idea why anybody thinks Lone Skum is a friend of humanity.
I hope more rockets blow up.
It was NOT a suggestion of friendship.

(beware April Fool's)
DARPA have been guiding this research for years - so, think of Bitcoin less as money and more as the price of security. In that sense, it is a new commodity, like electricity was.
right, Lowery's argument is quite devastating in terms of how domesticated most humans have become, and as believers they can't comprehend the wars for power that exist at different levels. I'll write more on this.
humans = the most domesticated former apex predators.
beliefs = psyops to domesticate humans
