What I really don't buy is that this man-child suddenly became dumber than a mousemat, and only after fucking up.
There is a huge difference between being a technical analyst and being a trader, in real-time, with real money and real losses. The emotions.
My deeper question is whether SBF was aware of being a fall-guy or whether he was clueless about being a patsy. Because the consequences of FTX are, by an otherwise astonishing stroke of luck, precisely what the SEC needed to crucify crypto. Not some Asian scamster, but a home-grown (kinda), all-American (kinda) member of the tribe (and hence captured).
I also have concerns that there is the feint waft of a defence here; some plea around mental instability, some departure from rational thought that made FTX no different to the stupid games SBF is entranced by. His rudeness and inability to even focus on investor meetings is not a sign of genius, is rather a sign that the outcome was already known, so why bother.
His cultish obsession of his altruistic mission is the kind of behaviour associated with a level of brain-washing. That is the angle I would pursue.
If he was that stupid to fuck up so blatantly badly, how was he smart enough to set up the whole FTX construct and financing in the first place?

He also has friends in dark places who help him establish this virtuous-engine. Of course, at some point, he fucks up because, deep down he is incompetent at this, but then tries to cover-up his incompetence. Eventually, the dark adults turn up and put him back into his playpen.
