Fintech Plum rolls out crypto investing to customers in Europe
Plum will provide the service through a partnership with crypto unicorn Bitpanda, according to a release from Plum. The app will integrate Bitpanda's API tools to enable customers to access Bitpanda's crypto services through Plum's user interface.
So, why bother?
We don’t support either the deposit of cryptocurrency assets you’ve bought from an external source into Plum, or the withdrawal of coins you’ve bought with Plum to an external cryptocurrency wallet. Plum FAQ
A 2.5% commission on every trade means this is very much for "investing" newbs, and definitely not for trading. You also need to link to your bank account.
Already in the UK, Plum is rolling out crypto investing services to customers in France, Belgium, Spain and Ireland.
This is what "mass adoption" will look like. Not very different to any other financial service; the retail user is always last to the trough - for your protection, in case you eat too much.
