XRP Attorney Spots the Adverse Effects of Ripple Losing to the SEC

The lawyer asserted that an unfavorable result for Ripple would be detrimental to the XRP community as the case would be extended with the firm filing for an appeal, resulting in a retained status quo.

No shit! With a landscape of legal cases, this is, for now, the main case precisely because of the wider repercussions. It is also likely (possibly) to be the first to reach some form of judgement.

If the SEC wins Ripple will Appeal and the status quo that exists today will continue over the next 2-5 years.

However, life goes on, and the USA is not the only jurisdiction in the world.

According to court filings, Anna R. Gressel of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is no longer the attorney of record for the company.

With how long its lawsuit with the SEC has been, Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse has noted that the departures will not hurt its chances in the case, a vote of confidence that many industry observers are currently betting on.

American Lawyer: Investors Suing Ripple Better Pray for the SEC to Lose Its Case Against Ripple

The second [legal case] is a class-action lawsuit (originally filed in 2018) by an aggrieved investor, Bradley Sostack, arguing that XRP is a security and should have been registered under relevant laws.

In a twist of irony, Deaton explained that should Ripple lose the SEC lawsuit, it is the SEC, not the civil case plaintiffs, that would likely offer XRP holders the best financial recovery. And if Congress steps in and resolves the current regulatory issues during the years of appeals, these cases could be rendered moot.
