What is your national dish of food?
One of the things my extensive travel around this wonderful world taught me, is different people like different food.
Hot n spicy seemed to be the Asian way, boring and bland the English way, fish n chips they used to say was the UK's most popular food, now replaced by according to "experts with opinions" curry.
My dish of choice today is beef stew, other countries call it goulash, no idea what the difference is though.
Here are the contest rules for today.
- The total prize is 100 blurt shared between 10 people.
- You need to do an article on your own timeline with a recipe, one from where you live/reside.
- If you have no camera just list the ingredients and how it is cooked, how long it takes etc.
- Only entries count after this post is listed, no old posts allowed.
- The first 10 entries win, so get to it good people.
I made this meal to share with some elderly people.
Just like my mother in law, there are some lonely elderly people near by. They have been excluded from their children by choice.
My brother in law, triple jabbed, lining up for number 4, will not come and see his 69 year old mother, because she does not want to be jabbed every month, and refuses to wear a nappy on her face.
I thought the jibby jab was meant to make people feel safe, guess not hey.
So with these abandoned elderly people in mind, I thought how can I help, help cheer them up. So I made them a nice meal.
Even though the idea behind this meal is simple, and allegedly from the UK, anyone can eat it, except them bloody vegans, only joking t'gal.
You need 1lb of beef, chopped.
Fry gently to seal in the moisture, add pepper and salt to taste.
I soak carrots in water, sugar and salt for an hour.
Then set about chop chopping some other home grown veggies, The best part about having a cold basement for storage, is the veggies last all winter, some like green beans need a freezer though.
Throw them in a pot and simmer, always do potatoes separate, starch is not good.
Soaked in Himalayan salt and all.
At T'gal would even eat this bit, dumplings.
Tip the lot in a larger pot, simmer, add herbs, spices, salt, pepper to your own individual taste. And it looks like the first picture.
Then take it and share it with others, especially the seemingly forgotten generation, the old.
We can all make a difference if we try.
Here is to a very happy, caring and sharing new year. make it the best you can.
