If you dont know how big of a deal this is, youre probably not Canadian. This is likely the highest achievement of our National Soccer Club.
Congratulations Canada Mens National Team, who secured a victory at the temperature of -8°C in Edmonton, Alberta this November the 20th, 2021.
2 - 1 Victory Over Mexico
One of the greatest oppoents in the game of international football, Mexico has been defeated for the first time in over 21 years. The temperature may have played a role in the outcome, but when Canadians play in dry arid climates like mexico, they have also expressed similar complaints about feeling "out of their element".
I would hope to see this trend continue, and see many clubs from around the world play in late fall in Canada. We play soccer into october regularily, games are usually called for snow though.
Lets discuss the weather in the comments, how do you feel about Mexico playing at -8°C?
How about Canadians playing at +40°C which never happens outside of sun warmed valleys on the southern border of Canada. Is being out of your element something you feel should be accounted for?
Not only does this moment, signify the defeat of a great opponent in the International Stage, Canada is now at the top of the standings, for the first time in my life.
I was actually in shock watching the Canadians defend against the Mexican middlefields, that is no easy job, and one of the traits i admire most abput the Mexican club. I am admittedly a mexican bandwagon fan, as I rarely see any other country aside from occasionally the USA near me win at soccer/football.
haha, just imagine the Mexican team arriving.... snow wtf, we're not the ice hockey team! Well done, tho, but the weather was your 12th man.
I think the weather would surprise them too, but that was an international club game, and the show must go on. They get paid enough i am sure they enjoyed something about that.
